About Me

My name is George Farris and I have had an interest in technology since probably about age 6.

I currently work for a local University here on Vancouver Island as an Information Technology Services technician.

My position includes working with Windows and Linux servers and desktops, mobile technology and Video Conferencing. I am an avid Linux fan and have written a number of programs and many, many scripts for Linux. I have a background in Industrial Control and spent fourteen years building equipment and programming PLC's.

I am a Ham Radio operator (VE7FRG) and High Power Rocket enthusiast. Other projects close to my heart are micro controllers, controlling my house and yard with Pytomation (home control software for Linux), growing a vegetable garden, photography and of course the good old Heathkit H8.
